Getting to the end of things to prove to yourself what you're capable of

Follow through:

Follow through.

Go to the end.

If you say you’re going to do something, go do it.

Go prove it.

Not to other people.

To yourself.

Are you capable of doing it?

Are you capable of more?

Are you capable of completing challenges that seem impossible to people?

Writing 2 books.

Running a marathon.

Completing an Ironman.

Are these achievable?

Go prove it.

Go do it.

Was having a conversation tonight with a friend of mine.

He said ‘the thing I always respect about you is you do it.

You follow through.’

Most people are just talk.

They say whatever.

But they don’t do it.

You actually do.

I remember talking to you about the Ironman last year.

And look where you are.’

Shit man.

It’s true.

3 weeks away.

Just completed the biggest training weekend of my life.

6 hour bike ride Saturday for 145k.

3.5 hr run Sunday for 30k.

Those are INSANE numbers.

Were insane to me just a while ago.

A few months back, you couldn’t even clip into your bike.

Now look at me.

Doing more on a bike than my old boss, who’s been a cyclist his entire life.

He’s never done a ride longer than 100k.

And here I am doing it only after a few outdoor rides.

This progress seemed unimaginable to me not long ago.

Yet here I am.

Following through.

Showing up.

Trying.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Even when it hurts.

Even when it sucks.

Even when I don’t want to.

Here you are.

Waking up at 5:30 am on a Saturday to bike 145k.

Then waking up at 6 am on a Sunday to swim 2.5k then run half a marathon.

Very few people are doing that.

Very few.

Kudos to the ones who do.

Because man, it’s hard.

An Ironman is not for everyone.

According to Perplexity, less than 0.01% of the world’s population have ever completed one (source).

Less than a million people.

Ever.

Even looked up, how many Indians have ever completed an Ironman?

The estimate is the low hundreds (source).

A few hundred Indians have ever completed a full Ironman.

And I’m on the cusp of being one of them.

Insane.

All because I followed through.

I showed up.

I act on what I say.

I don’t just talk.

I prove it.

I told people I was going to leave medicine.

Done.

I told people I was going to write a book.

Done.

I told people I was going to run a marathon.

Done.

I told people I was going to finish an Ironman.

That’s TBD.

But just know, I’ll be at that finish line on August 3rd.

All because I followed through.
