Invest in existing relationships:

Invest in existing relationships.

Invest time in the people you know.

Don’t pay attention to acquiring a bigger network or being known by more people.

Worry about having good relationships with the people you know.

Spend time with those that spend time with you.

Show up for those who show up for you.

For those who are interested in you.

For those that make you feel like a better person.

Because relationships compound.

Finished this book recently called ‘How to Not Die Alone’ about modern-day dating and how to use scientific research to improve our dating lives/relationships.

One of the major takeaways was understanding how you feel when you’re around the other person.

Instead of trying to conform to what they want, ask yourself how you feel.

Is the person lifting you up and making you feel like a better person or are they sucking energy out of you like a vampire and constantly being a drag?

If they’re in the latter, get rid of them. You’ll be thankful you did.

Growing up we’re conditioned to pay attention to other people’s needs. That was what it was like for me growing up in an Indian household where guests are treated like royalty.

That’s fine when you first meet someone but as you spend more time with them and learn about who they are, start asking yourself questions about how you feel around them.

Do you like yourself? Do you like the person you are? Do you feel happy and positive? Are they pushing you to grow and be a better version of yourself?

If they are, hold onto them.

If they’re not, let them go.

Most people are self-centered and selfish but look for people who uplift you and don’t let them go.

Spend more time with those people.

Sometimes it’ll be people you’ve known your whole life.

Other times it will be people you’ve never met before.

No matter what, invest time in those people.

Invest time in existing relationships, whether they’re new or old.
