Day 462 – Kobe’s death – Jan.26.20

What a sad day. Woke up this morning thinking it was going to be another chill Sunday and the whole thing went to shit because around 1 pm, TMZ reported Kobe Bryant, my GOAT, the man who taught me what it was to be strong in the face of adversity, died in a helicopter crash. Honestly like most people, I thought it was a sick joke. Then it set in that this idol is gone forever. Damn man, way too soon. Only 41 and what’s worse is his daughter, the one who loved basketball and wanted to play, was on the chopper as well. I honestly haven’t cried this much since Nannaji’s funeral because it was like losing a family member. I just watched his last interview as well with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson and you could see how much life was in the guy. How much impact he wanted to make for so many people. He was so driven that I know he would’ve been able to do so much. I’m so thankful I was born in an era where I got to watch him play because he was the greatest athlete. ‘Bean’, like so many others, I love you man and thanks for the memories!
