Life hacks:

Wanted to share a few of the things that have helped me get the most out of my time.

This is how I try and live my life, but it’s not for everyone. Find what works for you, but don’t be afraid to try something new.

  • Listen to podcasts on 2x speed.
  • Once you listen to podcasts on 2x speed, watch Youtube on 2x speed.
  • Listen to podcasts when you’re traveling or between trips.
  • Read non-fiction books. You can read them for free using e-books. A lot of people like the real thing but if you’re like me and want to carry 100 books around with you, e-readers are great.
  • Read non-fiction books from decades/centuries ago. They have all the answers.
  • Read about topics and subject areas that are completely unrelated to what you do.
  • If you want to learn about something, learn it on YouTube. Type in ‘how to…’ or ‘… explained’ and let someone tell you what you’re trying to figure out
  • Write in a journal. It doesn’t matter what you write about, just do it. Gratitude journals are great but the important thing is to get in the habit of writing for you.
  • Turn off your notifications, particularly for social media.
  • Spend more time outside. Go for walks in nature.
  • Get out in nature and look up at the night sky. It’ll remind you how meaningless you and I are.
  • Don’t eat too much junk food. Everything in moderation.
  • Do HIIT workouts – most efficient use of time IMO, but any exercise will do. Find the one you enjoy, no matter what it is.
  • Try intermittent fasting.
  • Meditate. Headspace, Calm, or Waking Up are all good suggestions. Do it every day for a month without stopping. Do not compromise, do not let yourself down. You will see how beneficial it is to your mind.
  • Subtract. Remove the negative opinions and distractions from your life. If someone or something doesn’t make you happier, feel inspired or teach you something new, get rid of it.
  • Take calculated risks. Always think about the upside vs. downside. What’s my upside vs. what’s my downside? Bad risks – investing all your money in the market using leverage. Great when the market is good, but if the market goes down, as all markets do, you’re wiped out. Good risks – cold emails. Downside is they don’t respond, upside is your life changes forever. Happened to me.
  • Increase the frequency of your risk taking. Get in the habit of failure. You will fail a lot but all you need is one hit. Don’t let other people’s opinions of your work stop you.
  • Follow successful people. Look at the people who are most successful in life or your industry and go learn from them. Watch their interviews, read their books, learn from them.
  • Invest in yourself, it will be the best decision you’ve ever made
  • Most of all, have fun. Do things you enjoy, not for anyone else but yourself.
