Progress is not linear:

‍

Progress is not linear.

‍

Every time you think you’re moving forward, something will slap you in the face and send you back to the bottom.

‍

I’ve been working out 5 times a week for the last few months thinking I was making progress.

‍

I got my body fat percentage checked today and it’s higher than I thought.

‍

I know there are a number of reasons why but it was disappointing.

‍

I’ve been doing all this work yet it feels like I’m back to ground zero.

‍

All good.

‍

Keep pushing.

‍

Iterate on what you’ve learned.

‍

Change it up.

‍

Try something new.

‍

Progress does not happen in a straight line.

‍

Every time you think you’re moving forward, life will remind you that you still have a long way to go.

‍

My weight has always been an insecurity of mine.

‍

I played several sports growing up but grew up a chubby kid.

‍

I remember trying a no-carb diet when I was 15.

‍

No 15 year old should be doing that.

‍

So it’s always been an issue.

‍

Then the last few years I’ve gotten better.

‍

I lost 25 pounds the first time I did the Joe Wicks program yet I can’t get back to that weight.

‍

All good.

‍

I’m happy with how far I’ve come but I know I have a long way to go.

‍

The most important thing is how you look at yourself in the mirror.

‍

I’m never going to be the fittest guy or the one with the ripped stomach and that’s ok.

‍

As long as you’re happy with who you are, it doesn’t matter.

‍

I know I’m making progress as a person as evidenced by all this writing, reading and self-work.

‍

So don’t worry about it.

‍

Keep pushing.

‍

Keep improving little by little every day.

‍

Remember, progress is not linear.
