Ride the wave:

Ride the wave.

Went surfing today.

Was my 3rd time.

It’s hard.

Really hard.

Standing up on the board.

Catching the right wave.

Not hitting anyone else.

All of it.

Felt like a good metaphor for life.

You won’t catch every wave.

You can’t.

Some waves will be good.

Others will suck.

Sometimes a wave you think is amazing will turn into a dud.

And other times you’ll miss waves.

All good.

Even ones you do catch, expect to fall.

When you do catch the right wave, ride it.

Ride it as long as you can.

Just when you think you’ve got it, you need to re-adjust.

Re-balance.

When the wave is done, you’ll fall.

You’ll fall into rocks.

Scrape your foot and hands.

Expect injuries.

No one gets through life unscathed.

When you’ve re-emerged from the water, start again.

Go back to where you were.

You can walk.

You can paddle.

You can take your time.

No matter what, get back to the starting position.

Then start again.

Expect to suck.

Expect to fall.

Expect to fail.

That’s life.

Maybe you’ll catch the right wave.

Maybe you won’t.

You don’t know.

All you can do is try.

All you can do is your best.

That’s it.

Ride the waves of life.
