Sep.13.23 - Day 1811 - Modern day dating

Such a time suck. Modern-day dating. Endless swiping. Messages that go nowhere. Ghosting everywhere. Has it always been this hard? Did our parents struggle this much? They must have. Historically we just used to marry the people in closest proximity to us. If you were Italian, your neighbour was Italian and you were similar ages to someone of the opposite gender, there’s a decent show you got married. Now it feels like the world’s your oyster. Like every possibility is out there. S no one commits. No one tries. No one struggles through and wants to get to know someone. It’s so easy to dismiss people based on one message or one interaction. How does this get solved? How do we get more compatible people together? People are spending billions figuring it out and it has worked for lots of people. Yet even more are out there endlessly scrolling to pictures of people we don’t know hoping to convince them to meet in person based on a few sentences in a profile. It feels like such a waste of time and yet it’s a necessary evil as a single person. I hate it more and more these days. Need to get away from it. It’s taking up too much time. Online dating is such a time suck.
