Dear (older) Anish,

You just turned 17 and are heading to St. Andrews to start medical school in 3 months. I don’t know what the next few years have in store for you, but I know I’m excited for them. Your whole life you have always felt like a star. You skipped a grade and always thought you were smarter than everyone else. But, you’ve realized that the world is a much bigger place than you recognize at this moment. The most important thing to understand is that life is constantly changing and what you’re doing now has no correlation to what you’re going to be doing in a few years from now. Never forget where you came from because even though all your friends are staying in Ontario and you’re Mr. Worldwide, you haven’t done anything and could well have stayed. That passion and drive for sports, don’t lose that because that will keep you sane. The world is constantly evolving and you have to adapt with it. As long as you can continue to be adaptable, you’ll go far. Remember the moments in the summer before uni where all you did was travel and play golf? Enjoy those because as time goes on they’ll be few and far between. Enjoy the ride dude, it’s gonna get crazy.

Sincerely,

Anish
