You’re marrying the family:

You’re marrying the family.

When couples get together, they think it’s just going to be them.

You and your partner.

Right?

No.

You're marrying the family.

You’re marrying the person, the people they have around them and all the problems that come with them.

All of the issues and deep-seated childhood problems they didn’t want to solve.

That’s who you’re marrying.

It looks all glitz and glam when you get married.

Everyone’s happy.

Everyone’s putting on the mask showing the rest of the world that all is going well.

But what happens when that goes?

What happens when you get back to real life?

There’s no pretending anymore.

There’s no hiding.

You have nowhere to go.

Most people don’t realize it.

You’re not marrying an individual.

You’re marrying their past, their friends, their parents, their environment, their habits, their tendencies, their passions, and their emotions.

You’re marrying all of that.

And that will change.

People grow.

Life happens.

At 40, we’re not who we were at 25.

We’ve changed.

Yet if we’re with someone through better or worse, we forget that they change.

We all do.

But people forget, it’s not just them changing.

It’s everyone around them changing as well.

Remember, you’re marrying all of the family.

Especially in Indian culture.

Most Indian families are massive.

They have their own drama, like all families do, but there are many more people.

Indians are their own breed.

So, no matter who you choose to marry, an Indian or not, never forget - you are never just marrying the person.

You’re marrying the family.
