Be grateful for what you have:

Be grateful for what you have.

Be grateful for where you are.

Be grateful for your life.

We all need more gratitude in our lives.

Focusing on the good that we have.

Rather than what we don’t.

We always compare ourselves to others.

Wanting things for reasons we don’t even understand.

Wanting items rather than moments.

We focus on what others have rather than what we do.

If you have access to clean water, a roof over your head, healthy food and a social support system, you’re doing better than most of the world.

Although it doesn’t seem like it, you are.

People live their entire lives never traveling.

Never going to other parts of the world.

Only when you do, especially to places that are so different, that you get an appreciation for what you have.

This is what my dad always told me as a kid.

Always.

Every trip.

No matter where we went, his message was always the same.

‘Be grateful for what you have.’

‘Appreciate what you’ve got.

‘Understand how lucky you are.’

As a kid, my siblings and I brushed aside that message.

We would rather play Pokemon on our DS or NBA on our PSP than listen to it.

Yet because of those moments, it’s burned into my head.

Gratitude.

Being grateful for what you have.

Appreciating how lucky you are to have the life you do.

I try to remind myself of this a lot.

Especially when life feels so hard.

When you don’t want to get up.

When you’re tired.

When you just want to crawl under the covers.

Those moments are when you need to remember.

You’re doing alright.

You have a lot going on for you.

Even if it doesn’t feel like.

Look at the positives of what you have.

Not the negatives of what you don’t.

Appreciate how other people live.

And how lucky you are to be alive.

Be grateful for what you have.
