Becoming a better writer is becoming a better editor:

Becoming a better writer is becoming a better editor.

It’s that simple.

You need to write enough to understand but as you write more, you see things more clearly.

Read ‘Elements of Style’ recently and it’s the best book on writing I’ve seen.

Concise and gives simple but powerful advice.

Great writing is to the point.

It doesn’t waste words.

It doesn’t waste ideas.

Be simple and clear with your writing.

If you can say the same thing in 10 words compared to a paragraph, do that.

No one has time.

Assume your reader doesn’t.

Get to the point quicker.

Take out unnecessary words.

That only happens through better editing.

Be ruthless with your words.

As much as you like sentences, cut them out when they don’t serve a purpose.

My writing now compared to when I started my blog is vastly different.

It’s shorter, more concise and has fewer paragraphs.

The old me had great ideas but it’s all over the place.

When I read it now, it makes me cringe.

But I’m improving.

I’m not perfect and need to get better as an editor.

But it’s happening.

I’m becoming a better writer by becoming a better editor.
