Day 716 – Day 211 Q – Oct.6.20 – Patience

Patience. That’s the name of the game. Don’t try and guess what is going to happen or how someone will react but make assumptions based on the info you have and stand by your decisions. People will react differently to different things but that’s ok. The key is understanding their point of view on how you conveyed your perspective. But that takes time and really getting to know someone over the long haul. In the short term, just keep being you. Never apologize for decisions or actions you make, unless they’re flat out wrong, because that’s how you learn and grow. Your boss said it to you today, speak up. Your voice matters. Your opinion matters. Whether or not people seem to care, that shouldn’t stop you from making your voice heard. The only way to learn is by action. By staying quiet, you’ll never know if you’re on the right path. Ask for feedback but understand the source. Understand where they’re coming from because context matters. Your boss basically said it today and it’s valuable because others have noticed. It’s weird though how I’ve had this convo even though I’ve been at the firm for a while. It’s because now people are being bombarded so they want me to play the part. It’s good though, just be better.
