Surrender to the flow of life:

Surrender to the flow of life.

Beautifully well put.

Just finished ‘The River Runner’ and what a story.

The story of an incredible human who took his own journey to personal fulfilment and found himself in the process.

A story of achievement but also trauma and how trauma from childhood can affect you your entire life.

It can lead you down dark roads and make you fall into deep holes.

The story of Scott who was at the top of the world in his sport of river kayaking and how for almost a decade he refused to open up.

He refused to deal with the trauma of his past.

He refused to understand himself and who he is.

Sure he achieved the peak but at what cost?

He almost killed himself with drugs and alcohol.

All because he couldn’t deal with his past.

He couldn’t ask for help.

He refused to surrender.

Eventually he found a woman who turned it all around.

Someone who made him confront his trauma.

Confront his past.

Confront the darkness and insecure bully that was within him.

After years of work, he eventually found light.

He eventually found purpose.

He eventually found supportive people around him who were there to help.

He didn’t have to be the egotistical asshole everyone always saw in him.

He could surrender and enjoy the experience with what was around him.

He surrendered.

He learned to accept what was in his control and what was not.

He understood the lessons of his past.

He worked on himself and accomplished his dream, 20 years after he first set out to do it.

Beautiful movie.

Beautiful story.

The takeaway - surrender to the flow of life.
