Why do I write?

‍

Why do I write?

‍

Who am I trying to impress?

‍

What ego boost am I doing this for?

‍

Is it really because I want to make an impact or just hear my own mind in writing?

‍

I tell myself this is for self-development but is it?

‍

I don’t know.

‍

All I do know is I enjoy this.

‍

I love writing about whatever’s on my mind.

‍

Even if I never get paid for this, I know I would still do it because I’ve been doing it for years.

‍

That’s how I know I’m onto something.

‍

I also know I’ve lived a lifetime of experiences in my brief time on this earth that I want to share with others.

‍

If I can provide value to people for free and do it at scale, the world is my oyster.

‍

So I write for me, but I also write for that person who’s stuck in their life and randomly came across my content.

‍

I write for that person that didn’t have the access, privilege and opportunity that I had so they can learn from my experiences.

‍

I write for that parent that doesn’t have time to read because they’re too busy worrying about their kids.

‍

I write for that senior citizen who’s by themself and has no one around them.

‍

But really, I’m writing for me.

‍

I’m writing for my younger and older selves.

‍

My younger self so he can learn from what I’ve done and my older self so he can be proud of something he built.

‍

The way I think about it is if I gave my content to my younger self, he would learn a lot about the world.

‍

Not all of what he would read would be good.

‍

But there’s a lot of information and insight that’s useful to know.

‍

I hope I’m teaching someone by doing this.

‍

Someone learning something that they didn’t know before.

‍

Hopefully to inspire them to work and follow their dreams.

‍

I hope on my death bed I’ll be known for providing value to people and I hope it’s through writing.

‍

So that’s why I write.
