The grass is greener where you water it:

The grass is greener where you water it.

Not on the other side of the fence.

But in front of you.

Now.

Focused on you.

Focused on your life.

Focused on the present.

Enjoying the mundane.

Enjoying slow mornings.

Sleeping in.

A great meal.

Laughing with your friends.

Seeing an awesome movie.

Getting on a plane.

Falling in love.

These are the moments.

The ones in between.

The ones we seem to speed through.

To get to the next thing.

To be happy when.

When I get that promotion.

Or that house.

Or that car.

Or achieve what I want.

I’ll be happy then, right?

Wrong.

Happiness happens now.

Today.

This moment.

It’s a choice.

A decision.

A feeling of absolute presence.

Of focusing on where you are.

Where your feet are.

Be where your feet are.

We often focus on another moment.

The past.

The future.

Or what we don’t have.

How nice would it be to be skinnier?

Or smarter?

Or faster?

Or richer?

We always look at our deficiencies.

Focused on what we don’t have.

Comparing ourselves to others.

Who are all fighting battles of their own.

Meanwhile, we forget.

Forget about how far we’ve come.

How far we’ve traveled.

How much we’ve suffered.

To get to here.

This moment.

Right now.

Looking at the grass beneath us.

Don’t worry about someone else’s yard.

Worry about your own.

How’s your grass doing?

Is it bright green?

Or brown?

Are you watering it?

Or trampling on it?

Are you taking care of it?

Or just letting it go?

Focus on your grass.

Water your grass.

Take care of your grass.

It’s all you got.

For the grass is greener where you water it.
