What do you want them to say at your funeral:

What do you want them to say at your funeral?

Your family.

Your friends.

Your colleagues.

Your kids.

Your partner.

What do you want them to say about you?

Good things?

Or bad ones?

Here’s some of what I want to be said.

He cared.

He tried.

He was a good person.

Showed up.

Always brought energy.

Always tried to have fun.

The buddy was crazy.

Doing things no one thought possible.

Things so beyond what anyone could imagine.

But he was still the same.

The same person I knew when I met him.

None of it changed him.

The way he defined success was personal.

It was doing what he loved.

Sharing his mind.

Writing.

Putting his thoughts down on a page.

For everyone or no one to see.

But he loved it.

He did it till the end.

Look what he’s achieved.

But that doesn’t even matter.

His achievements will fall away.

The question will be his impact.

Did he impact everyone?

Leave a mark on those who meant the most to him.

I hope so.

I hope this is said.

Maybe it is.

Maybe it isn’t.

Can’t control that.

But I can control how I am with people.

I can control my reaction.

I can show up.

I can be there.

Always be there when it’s hard.

Not easy.

No one remembers who was there at the top.

But they always remember those who got them through their worst moments.

Be that for the people in your life.

Show up.

Be that guy.

That will mean more to people than any success you’ll ever achieve.
