A tree:

A tree.

It starts out as a seed.

Descendants from trees before it.

All the DNA is encapsulated in this tiny thing.

All the history.

All the stories of its ancestors.

Captured in this tiny thing.

Same as babies.

It lands in a place, water gets on it and it starts growing.

It doesn’t choose where it lands.

It doesn’t control where it ends up.

But it just is.

Like us.

Then it starts sprouting.

A lot of other things have to happen for it to grow.

The right water.

The right light.

The right situation.

The right circumstances.

Then it grows.

While it does, there are constant challenges.

Wind.

Bacteria.

Wrong genetics.

Anything.

But the seed keeps growing.

A few years later, branches start to grow off.

The seed has created new leaves.

New offspring.

New descendants.

Then it keeps growing.

Along the way, it continues to face challenges.

But it keeps going.

The compounding effect of growth.

Many decades later, it’s standing high above with branches, leaves and entire ecosystems grown around it.

People take shade in it.

Animals live in it.

Organisms thrive off it.

Felt that recently hiding under a tree during a rainstorm.

There’s so much to a tree no one ever thinks about.

Never underestimate what a tree can teach you about life.
